09-10-19 Alex Deutsch Testimony – Out of Communism Into Freedom

An interview with Alex Deutsch as he shares his testimony of how he came out of communism/socialism and into freedom. Alex had lost most of his family in the holocaust, but by God’s grace, both of his parents were spared. Growing up Jewish in communist-controlled Romania had its share of challenges much the same as it was for Christians, but the reality of living under such a governmental state was hell on earth. Alex’s number one desire in sharing his testimony is to let people know that the promises of socialism and communism are far from what the reality of life is like under such governments. He hopes those hearing his testimony will take their freedom and liberty seriously and do what they can to preserve them. The promises by the socialists today are much that same as they have always been, but the truth is nowhere in the world have the promises made by the politicians ever really benefited the people at large. Alex’s experience is that he had barely enough food to eat, was spied on daily, he had no freedom of worship, all of life’s decisions were made for him by the state, and little hope for the future offered him hopelessness and no motivation in life. Alex discovered that this was one time in life after much persecution for being a Jew; he was truly thankful for his Jewish heritage. In the 60’s Israel was offering all Jews immigration to their homeland for a fraction of the cost that it would become to immigrate to America although Romania would torture any such deserters. Alex endured six months of torture and agony with the thought that any day he might die, but hope for freedom kept him alive. He was finally able to immigrate to Israel and then off to America. Ironically, although Alex considered himself an atheist from his brainwashing by the government, when he reached America, he kissed the ground and thanked God for his newfound freedom. Many years later after achieving much success in America he found himself in misery and depressed as although he had freedom, he had yet to find Jesus. Ultimately, Alex’s testimony and how once he found Jesus he found life to the fullest. Alex and his wife Glenda are now happily retired and actively involved in ministry and missions in Ecuado
